- Collingswood, N.J. -- The South Jersey Apple/Mac Users Group (SJAUG), in a
- move to join the Information Infobahn, placed a Home Page on the World Wide
- Web today (OK, tonight--unless you're in Japan, then it's tomorrow). The
- page includes basic PR junk, with a highly predictable list that ticks off
- all of the benefits of membership to the SJAUG. Authored by Dave Kramer,
- self-promoting Internet guru and Mac scribe, the pages only took about a
- month to complete (even though learning HTML took only 20 minutes or so).
-
- Ahhh, but what wasn't so predictable was the array of hypertext links
- included to offer helpful graphical and textual information on such
- activities as logging onto the Appleline BBS for the first time, finding
- the meeting in the middle of bloody Medford NJ, and a sample article from
- the Candy Apple newsletter. Thanks to a 11th hour OK from Myst co-creator
- Rand Miller himself, the article--entitled "Myst Gets in My Eyes"--include
- some screenshots from the CD-ROM adventure Myst itself. Written by Dave and
- Jacqui Kramer, the piece is also a shameless self-promoting plug for their
- fledgling freelance writing business.
-
- The URL is:
-
- http://www.voicenet.com/voicenet/homepages/reeltime/SJAUG.html
-
- If you lack a World Wide Web browser but have access to Telnet, you can
- connect with www.njit.edu and login as "www" for access via the New Jersey
- Institute of Technology's server. Some shell accounts will offer lynx,
- which will let you connect sans graphics as well. Netscape is the browser
- of choice; use it if you got it!! For those with AOL-only access, well:
- there'll be a browser there soon. You have FTP now (check it out, if you
- haven't). Save that URL.
-
- The web pages are displayed courtesy of Voicenet, a Delaware Valley
- Internet provider, which finally hooked it up. "Then I finally remembered
- to translate my menu file from Mac to UNIX!!" says Dave, shamelessly
- quoting himself in an effort to maintain the facade of the press release.
- "And then the GIF images wouldn't display... So I rewrote the pages, and
- voila. Now you see 'em."
-
- Uh-huh.. I think Dave's pretty whacked out there. Well, he has been
- caffeine-less for nearly *four* days.... Might have something to do with
- it.
-
- Well, check 'em out. That URL again:
